Masterplan EMS 2050: Progress for the ecological protection of the EMS
Masterplan EMS 2050: Progress for the ecological protection of the EMS
environmental awareness and ecological change in Lower Saxony
The EMS 2050 master plan is viewed as an important step towards the sustainable preservation of the environment in Lower Saxony. This concept aims to sustainably improve the ecological quality of the EMS river and its adjacent habitats. The Lower Saxony Environment Minister Christian Meyer (Greens) reported on progress in this important project, which influences not only the environment, but also the quality of life of the residents.
flexible tidal control to reduce the sequence
A central element of the master plan is to plan a flexible tidal control. According to Meyer, this project aims to significantly reduce the improvement of the EMS. The implementation of this control is considered crucial to promote a healthy and dynamic ecosystem in the EMS. The conversions and measures should benefit both nature and the regional population in the long term.
Clarifyconflicts of interest: Dialogue with the population
An important step before the start of the planning approval process, which is expected to begin in 2025, is the clarification of possible conflicts of interest. In this context, effective conversations with all affected parties should take place. Meyer emphasized the importance of dialogue: "We are on a very good way because we have been in very good and constructive discussions with everyone involved for a long time." The creation of a uniform consensus is essential in order not to endanger the implementation of the plan.
establishment of new habitats by Tidepolder
On a visit to the construction site of the Tidepolder Coldemüntje in Westoverledingen, the Ministry of the Environment explained that since May 2022 there has been a work on a polder that is supposed to serve as a new habitat for numerous plant and animal species. These habitats are particularly important for species that rely on changing water levels that have been greatly reduced by the conversion of the EMS. The realized polder on an area of around 30 hectares should be put into operation by 2025.
Who benefits from the implementation of the master plan?
The EMS 2050 master plan not only has far -reaching effects on nature, but also on the communities around the EMS. It promotes awareness of ecological issues and contributes to the creation of habitats for endangered species. By bringing different partners together such as the environmental associations NABU, BUND and WWF as well as local authorities and companies, a broad cooperation is promoted to maintain the EMS.
In conclusion, it can be said that the EMS 2050 master plan is not only an important environmental protection project, but also represents a movement towards sustainable development in Lower Saxony. The efforts to revitalize the EMS ecology through innovative measures are an example of successful cooperation and long -term planning that should benefit everyone involved.
