Full closure of the Hesel town passage: renovation work in August

The planned full closure of the passage through the town in Hesel not only attracts the attention of drivers, but also has far -reaching consequences for the entire community. In this article we examine the background of this measure and what challenges the ongoing construction work bring.

construction work in Hesel: A necessary step

The renovation work on the B72 in Hesel, which has been in progress since March 2023, should primarily improve traffic safety and use for bicycles. The project, which hinders the liquid traffic flow, is now being more intensely planned than originally planned. Frank Buchholz, the head of the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport (NLSTBV), announced that a full closure will be set up between 19 and 25 August 2023.

causes of full closure

The reason for the necessary full blocking is the asphalt installation, which due to unforeseen problems with the substructure of the road cannot run as planned. In particular, it had to be found that the old drainage channels and curbs have to be replaced by new ones, since the sub -concrete is no longer sustainable. This has significantly increased the workload. Therefore, the asphalting is divided into two separate construction phases.

planned construction phases

The first construction phase to start on August 19 includes the route from the intersection Oldenburger Straße/Leeraner Straße to the intersection B72/B436/L24. The work is carried out in two -shift operation from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. to adhere to the time frame. The planned steps include:

  • 19. August: full closure and milling work
  • 20. August: Installation of the asphalt binder layer
  • 21. August: Installation of the asphalt cover layer
  • 22. August: Installation of the asphalt in confluence
  • 23. August: Installation of asphalt at bus stops
  • 24. August: marking work
  • 25. August: Dismantling of the full closure

Future view for the traffic situation

After completing the first asphalting measures, it is checked whether the Leeraner Straße can be released for traffic in September, but only for in -depth traffic without through traffic. A second construction phase is then planned for October or November and affects the B72 and the L24.

Community influence of the renovation measures

The upcoming work is viewed by the population and the local business owners with mixed feelings. While the renovation measures should lead to an improvement in traffic safety in the long run, the temporary restrictions and full blocking ensure inconvenience and possibly a decline in customer frequency in the region. The local authorities are aware of these challenges and try to inform the residents as much as possible.

Overall, it can be seen that the renovation of the passage through the town in Hesel has not only structural but also social dimensions. The residents and road users have to show patience while the work is progressing to improve the quality of life in the community in the long term.
