Leipzig: New business park is being built on the site of the former castworks

on the site of the former Gusswerke Leipzig, formerly known as Halberg-Guss, a long-awaited change takes place. The imposing 150 meter high chimney of the work is removed piece by piece, and only a third of the tower is in the west of Leipzig.

It was originally planned to eliminate the chimney by means of an explosion, but this plan was rejected for economic reasons. Instead, a special spider excavator is now used, which is slowly working down. This impressive construction vehicle, also known as a striding excavator, is controlled via a remote control and is often used during demolition work on high buildings.

After the complete renovation of contaminated sites on the former Halberg Guss site, the path is clear for the creation of a new commercial and industrial park. It is expected that this location will attract a large number of companies and will also create jobs in the region.

This change marks an important step for the development of the Leipzig West and at the same time offers an opportunity for economic growth and resettlements in the region. It will be interesting to observe how the terrain will change and develop in the coming years. - nag
