Red alarm level: The air quality in Leipzig is so dangerous!
Leipzig, Deutschland - In Leipzig, the alarm bells rise because of the air quality! Measured at the central measuring station in Leipzig-Mitte, alarming values are recorded. The decisive limit for fine dust particles up to PM10 is 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air-and that can only be exceeded 35 times a year, otherwise there are threatening sensitive EU penalties. Current measurements show how important it is to carefully choose the locations outdoors.
Air quality is monitored based on three factors: fine dust, ozone and nitrogen dioxide. If one of these values exceeds its limit, the air is "very bad". In the case of fine dust, the value climbs to over 100 μg/m³, with ozone it is more than 240 μg/m³ and with nitrogen dioxide over 200 μg/m³. These critical values not only result in health risks - especially for sensitive people who should avoid physical exertion outdoors. The Federal Environment Agency urges the consequences that can not only be fatal for risk-patient. For the latest data and details on air quality in Leipzig, visit www.lvz.de .
