The new town hall of Leipzig celebrates the reopening of its historical paternoster, which is back into operation after a general overhaul after one and a half year. The city has invested an impressive 900,000 euros to bring this technical monument back to life.

Despite a comprehensive renewal in 1986, the years of continuous operation had left its mark and the elevator was increasingly unusual. Therefore, a comprehensive repair was urgently required. In the course of the general overhaul, the control technology, the drive system, the engine, the gearbox and the drive shafts were exchanged. Even the linoleum of the cabin floors was gently cleaned to let the paternoster shine in old splendor.
