New work of the German Aircraft in Leipzig: Return of aircraft construction

In Leipzig, an exciting development is expected in the field of aviation industry. The German Aircraft starts the construction work for a new work at Leipzig Airport at the end of September, making aircraft construction in Saxony a comeback. This is seen as an important step for the region, which has already played an important role in the aviation scene in the past.

The new work will be near the north railway, where the short -haul airfalls of the "D328 Eco" type are cherished and maintained. These aircraft, which offer space for up to 43 passengers, are to be composed of prefabricated individual parts from 2026. At the moment, the building clearance and the development measures are already in full swing, and the completion of the construction work is planned for November 2025.

economic importance and investments

The German Aircraft, based in Oberpfaffenhofen in Bavaria, belongs to the renowned Sierra Nevada Corporation, an American company from the aerospace industry. In order to implement the work, the company invests a total of 80 million euros, of which 6.5 million euros are provided as funding from the Free State of Saxony.

The perspective of up to 300 new jobs is an additional incentive for the region. The local economy benefits not only from the workplaces, but also from the strengthening of the Saxony aviation location as a whole. Currently, around 160 companies and research institutions in this area generate over 7,000 employees annually.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs emphasizes that a significant part, up to 13 percent of sales, is reinvested in research and development. This is a sign that the industry not only aims at short -term profits, but also invests in innovations and technological progress in the long term. The return of aircraft construction to Saxony could thus have far -reaching positive effects on the industry and the region, both in terms of jobs and technological developments.

With these measures, German Aircraft not only wants to strengthen its market position, but also to contribute to the creation of sustainable air traffic. The D328 ECO has already been developed to enable more environmentally friendly mobility and could be a model for future developments in the aviation industry.
