Allotment Olympiad: Leverkusen green areas fight for the title!
On Friday evening, the allotment garden in Schlebusch experienced a full house at the ceremonial award ceremony for the competition for the most beautiful allotment garden in Leverkusen. Among the numerous visitors were the district mayors and mayors Uwe Richrath, who cordially opened the 46th award ceremony, which has been carried out annually since 1977, apart from a two -year break due to Corona. A total of 14 plants took part in the competition for the coveted title.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the winners: the allotment garden Hitdorf took first place and was allowed to take home the winner's cup. The Mathildenhof facility secured second place, while the allotment garden Alfred Vissel took third place. A special price went to the Bernshecke facility. There was also a small prize money for every placement. The jury had the difficult task of evaluating the gardens according to strict criteria, which included planting and maintaining the plants, among other things. The popularity of the allotment gardens has also increased by the corona pandemic. Thomas Korioth, the first chairman of the Leverkusen City Association, reported on a parcel of up to three years of waiting. Interested parties can apply directly to the clubs to become part of these green oases that enrich the cityscape of Leverkusen. Further information is available on the city association's website: www.ksta.de .
