Priel apprenticeship: New industrial area with expanded flood protection in Lindau

potential for ecological upgrading- Flood protection in Lindau

The city of Lindau urgently needs new commercial space , and the Priel class between Friedrichshafener Straße and the Wiesental should be an important building block. But the plans for the new industrial area had to be revised, since the flood protection was not sufficiently taken into account.

The administration was surprised when it was found that the hydraulic situation in the water could be worsened by the new planning. Outdated information led to a recalculation of the hydraulic conditions of the Giebelbach/Tobelbach.

The result of this recalculation showed that an adjustment was necessary. The run of the Giebelbach is now moved to the east and designed close to nature. The establishment of an S-curve and a five-meter-wide bank strip is to be achieved an ecological upgrade. In addition, Lindau would be equipped for a hundred years of flooding.

The cost of laying the water amounts to 250,000 euros. It was proposed to involve the owners in the costs in order to distribute the financial burden fairly. It is possible to skim funding for flood protection, but the exact amount of these funding is still unknown.

The city council has approved the revised development plan for Priel and decided to carry out the re -participation of the public as well as relevant authorities and sponsors of public issues. City planner Iris Möller emphasized the ecological advantages of these new plans and is looking forward to the future development of the Erlen humidity forest in the area.
