A very special anniversary will be celebrated on October 26, 2025: Lindau Park opened its doors for the first time exactly 25 years ago. At that time, a mother and her son were the first customers of the popular shopping center on Lake Constance. Today, a comprehensive renovation is being announced that will make Lindau Park fit for the future and significantly improve the shopping experience. The modernization and expansion of the shopping center on Berliner Platz next to Reutin train station will be carried out in several stages. The focus is on comfort and a varied shopping experience. Managing director Michael Schneckenburger emphasizes that the service point will in future be located on the first floor, while the current sales area is expected to grow from around 17,000 square meters to around 25,000 square meters.
An experience for the whole family
A family-friendly adventure world with modern play and care options will also be part of the new concept. In addition, a new food park will be created with an area of around 1,250 square meters, which will bring together up to ten providers and will be equipped with a terrace that offers a magnificent view of Lake Constance and the Alps. Wochenblatt adds that around 50 shops and restaurants will be available after completion in 2027.
Particular attention is also being paid to modernizing the interior design of the shopping center. Bright seating areas, an open “plaza area” and new LED installations are intended to create an inviting ambience. The conversion of the existing parking deck into a modern panoramic floor will, among other things, help to increase the attractiveness of Lindau Park.
Sustainability as a guiding principle
The topic of sustainability plays a central role in the renovation. The new technology center will be equipped with geothermal energy, heat recovery and a photovoltaic system to significantly reduce energy consumption. The planned measures are expected to result in savings of over 50 percent.
Accessibility will also be optimized for those arriving. In addition to the existing underground car park with 283 spaces, a new car park with 370 spaces will be built. Lindau Park is not only popular with local residents - around 3.5 million people from the surrounding area and the neighboring countries of Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein visit it every year.
The first new brands that will be introduced as part of the modernization are Rituals (cosmetics) and Snipes (streetwear) and are scheduled to open their stores at the end of 2026. Despite the construction work, Lindau Park remains open throughout so that customers can continue to do their usual shopping.
The schedule for the renovation is ambitious. Completion of the energy-related renovation is scheduled for December 2025, followed by the modernization work by May 2026. The entire renovation phase will last until the grand opening in April 2027, and it will be exciting to see how Lindau Park will shine in new splendor.
Ultimately, with the creation of the Vierlindenquartier, which will include over 400 apartments and a daycare center, the project creates a new urban connection around the shopping center and will have a lasting impact on the lifestyle in Lindau.
