Creative kids: Write your own song in the youth music school!

In an exciting pilot project of the Marbach-Bottwartal youth music school, ten to 14-year-old children took the opportunity to write their own songs. Under the direction of Anja Wichmann, singer and deputy headmistress, and her colleague Jörg Bielfeldt, the participants experienced two intensive days full of creativity in the music school container in Marbach. The children not only learned to write texts, but also to develop melodies and to understand the structure of a song. The choice of the topic was particularly surprising: the young musicians opted for "animals", while environmental and tree topics were also under discussion.

The enthusiasm of the children was noticeable. Ten -year -old Emma found it "cool" to write its own song, and the group bravely experimented with sounds and rhymes. Anja Wichmann emphasized the importance that the songs remain the work of the children while supporting them with valuable tips. In use with a mixer, the teachers recorded the results digitally so that the children could take their creative works home with them.
