Lübeck lives: Musical event in the cathedral

On July 7, 2024 at 4:00 p.m., a unique concert project entitled "Sound of Elements - Musical Experience in Change" takes place in the Cathedral of Lübeck. Entry is free, but donations are requested for regional climate protection projects in favor of the Nature Conservation Foundation Schleswig-Holstein.

This extraordinary event brings cathedral organist Johannes Unger on the Marcussen organ, musician of the orchestra of change under the direction of concert master Carlos Johnson and the talented young composers Parnaz Soltani, Ilia Viaiazov and Diego Alejandro Morales Castillo from the Lübeck University of Music. They present a wide repertoire that ranges from classic pieces such as Handel to avant -garde new compositions.

A focus of this concert is on the subject of climate and environmental protection. The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck is part of the Association of the Orchestra of Wandel e.V., an initiative to promote climate -like action in the music scene. Over 40 partner orchestras have already joined this project across Germany.

The musicians of the orchestra of Change Lübeck want to combine music, climate protection and environmental protection with new concert formats. A particular concern is the CO2 balance in the cultural sector and global responsibility for the climate. The musicians are also actively involved in sustainable forestry, especially for the protection of tropical types of wood that are used in musical instrument construction and are threatened by extinction.

This concert in the Lübeck cathedral is not only a musical experience, but also a statement for the protection of our environment and the responsibility that each of us bears to maintain our natural resources. Come by and let yourself be enchanted by the sounds of music and beauty of nature.
