SPD urges the A39 in the Gifhorn district

The discussion about the further construction of the A39 motorway shows how strongly economic, infrastructural and environmental aspects are closely interwoven. New planning approval resolutions have been available in the Samt communities of Brome and Boldecker Land since July 30, but it is already clear that the path to the end of this important traffic axis will not run without hurdles.
Apell of the SPD parliamentary deputy
The "Braunschweig Group", an amalgamation of the SPD members of the Landtag from the Braunschweig region, appealed to everyone involved in a joint press release not to further delay the gap between Wolfsburg and Lüneburg. Christoph Bratmann, spokesman for the group, emphasizes the need for a rapid progress: "A further construction of the A39 is not only desired by the majority of the population in the Gifhorn district, but also essential in terms of economic policy."
A look at the economy
Kirsikka Lansmann, the SPD member of the state parliament for the Gifhorner Nordkreis, emphasizes that the traffic flows will continue to grow with the completion of the MELE BELT crossing to Denmark. In this context, the B4 is rated as an inadequate alternative route to the A7: "It becomes a disadvantage for companies and people in the north district through impending overload," she says. The construction of the A39 could counteract this development and thus represent a “big throw” for the region.
public mobility and climate protection
The "Braunschweiger Group" is aware of the concerns of climate protectionists. Bratmann adds: "We are not only investing in the street, but also in the rails. By 2029, LNVG and regional association 30 new battery vehicles for the railway line between Uelzen and Braunschweig will not only be an improvement in public transport, but also a step towards complete climate neutrality."
traffic infarction and mobility offers
A central concern of the SPD MPs is to prevent a possible traffic infarction in the Gifhorn district. Bratmann warns against looking at the various modes of transport in isolation: "Only if we think all modes of transport together can we meet the needs of the people on site," he explains and calls for a comprehensive view of mobility.
Overall, the dispute over the further construction of the A39 reflects the challenges that many regions in Germany are currently experiencing: clarification of economic and environmental policy needs must be reconciled. The SPD members of the Landtag are committed to ensuring that the A39 is a decisive step in the right direction, both for the local economy and the quality of life of the citizens.
