Terrible truck accident on the A2: a dead, several injuries

In the late morning there was a devastating accident on the A2 motorway between Irxleben and Bornstedt, which had significantly impaired and tragic consequences. The road had to be blocked in both directions of travel, which led to far -reaching traffic disruptions.

After initial investigations by the police, a rear-end collision occurred at 11 a.m. when a 65-year-old Polish truck driver overlooked the end of the traffic jam in front of a construction site. As a result, he collided with a motorhome that was in front of him, and pushed it onto two trucks in front. In this serious incident, four vehicles, including a motorhome, fell in full fire.

In the course of the rescue measures, it was confirmed that a man lost his life in the accident and four other people were seriously injured. All injuries were immediately taken to the hospital. The exact origin of the other drivers has not yet been determined, but one of them was also Polish nationality.

The fire brigade had to make enormous efforts to extinguish the focal of fire due to the strong smoke development and the difficult accessibility to the scene of the accident. Despite the risks, the emergency services managed to free all three drivers from the trucks, but it remains unclear whether there may be other people in the vehicles.
