Halle (Saale) (ots) - a number of controls in the area of the prostitution industry in Halle (Saale) has led to several criminal proceedings. The measures were carried out by the Financial Control undeclared (FKS) of the Magdeburg main customs office in cooperation with the state police.
Investigations and results of the controls
On August 1, 2024, four model apartments were attended, in which the customs officials met five people who worked in prostitution. Only two of these people were able to present a valid ID document. Since everyone involved was without a valid work permit, investigations against the Vietnamese nationals were initiated on suspicion of illegal stay and the unauthorized exercise of self -employed activity, said Sebastian Schultz, press spokesman for the main customs office Magdeburg.
In addition, checks were held on July 17, 2024 in two unspecified prostitution apartments. Violations were found again during these reviews. Two Thai and one Vietnamese citizen were found who also worked without permission. Here, too, investigations followed due to the suspicion of illegal stay and illegal employment.
relevance of controls and outlook
These events not only represent a violation of the prostitution law, but also shed light on a bigger problem with regard to the protection of people in sex work. The results of the investigation illustrate the need to make the prostitution industry more transparent and safer. The cooperation of the authorities takes an important step to combat human trafficking and illegal employment.
In the context of the investigation, it was announced that one of the accused persons in Plauen continued to pursue prostitution. This was temporarily arrested on July 25, 2024 by the state police in Saxony. The responsible immigration office then applied for an arrest warrant for deportation.
important contact points for those affected
The current developments in the prostitution industry and the following measures show how important it is that those affected receive support from illegal structures. It is crucial that people turn into suitable positions in difficult situations to find legal help and protection.
