Home game derby: VfB Stuttgart demands Mainz 05 despite personnel problems
next Saturday, August 31st, two seasoned teams of the Bundesliga are facing each other in the SWR1 stadium: VfB Stuttgart welcomes FSV Mainz 05, while TSG Hoffenheim will compete against unity. These encounters take place as part of the second match day of the new season and promise exciting moments on the lawn.
Before the home game, VfB Stuttgart has to struggle with personnel problems. While the offensive around coach Sebastian Hoeneß is fully occupied, the defense looks significantly different. The squad is partly unbalanced, which is not only due to the management of the squad, but rather is justified by injuries. Hoeneß commented on the situation: "We tend to have too much at the front, at the back at the back of too little."
Der VfB and its challenges
Despite the defensive problems, there are bright spots for Stuttgart: Josha Vagnoman returns to the squad. The right -back should not play from the start, but his return could bring a breath of fresh air to the hind team -plagued back team. In contrast to defense, the situation in the attack looks different. The strikers are fit and Hoeneß could even include El Bilal Touré, a new loan player from Atalanta Bergamo, as soon as its visa is granted. "It looks good," says the trainer optimistic.
In the coming game, VfB will meet Mainz, which appear strongly under its coach Bo Henriksen and are currently fifth in the Bundesliga. "It is a good team and a big challenge," emphasizes Hoeneß, who finds clear words before the game: "We are not in the position of underestimating someone". This statement underlines the seriousness and the great expectation that is on Stuttgart.
On the other hand, sports director Christian Heidel from FSV Mainz 05 is also optimistic. After the last new additions, he is satisfied with the current squad, but does not rule out that further transfers could take place before the end of the transfer window on Friday at 8:00 p.m. "I never say because I have already experienced everything," says Heidel Charming. The association recently committed two new players and is therefore prepared for the upcoming challenge in Stuttgart.
Hoffenheim takes it with Eintracht on
The TSG Hoffenheim meanwhile travels to Frankfurt with a lot of energy. Trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo describes the Eintracht stadium as a place that can whip his team forward. "This is a great challenge for us," he said confidently. After a successful start to the season against Holstein Kiel, the team is also motivated to survive against Frankfurt.
However, the challenge will not only affect harmony, but also the integration of new players. Hoffenheim invested vigorously in this transfer period, including a change for Adam Hlozek, which came from Bayer Leverkusen for 18 million euros. "There are players for whom the Bundesliga is also new territory. But the boys give us broad and ensure competition," commented Matarazzo. The dynamics in the team will therefore be crucial to successfully contest the upcoming encounters.
The games on Saturday promise a lot of excitement and show how the teams will position themselves in the new season. While Stuttgart and Mainz meet, Hoffenheim has the opportunity to prove themselves at Eintracht Frankfurt. The SWR1 stadium will be the scene of this gripping Bundesliga duelle from 2:00 p.m.
