Monrepos-Epilog 2024: Students of the landscape architecture shine
The Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences set a significant milestone in the landscape architecture study area on July 10, 2024. The event not only marked the end of an intensive summer semester, but also a platform for students to present their creative and scientific results to a broad audience.
The students focus: innovation and sustainability
In the fully occupied lecture hall, the students showed a variety of projects that ranged from sustainable land use to modern nature conservation concepts. The presentations formed the result of a difficult and educational phase in which the students not only acquired academic knowledge, but also developed new solutions for current challenges in the field of landscape architecture. These topics are particularly important because they have a direct impact on information on the integration of green spaces into urban rooms and thus contribute to improving the quality of life in cities.
award winners as role models in the industry
An important highlight of the event was the awarding of the Study Award Landscape Architecture, which went to four talented students. The award winners were awarded for their excellent theses:
- Norman Häußer: Temperature development of concrete when hardening (Bachelor thesis)
- Maximilian Stumm and Elena Viandt: Change of motif-a freedom planning concept for the redesign and expansion of the Hartenberg Park Mainz (Bachelor-thesis)
- Nora Schmidt: Habitat modeling of the European beaver (Castor Fiber L.): Potentials and conflict zones of rivers in Rhineland-Palatinate (Master-Thesis)
The price that annually from the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture e. V. (DGGL) and other partners are donated and endowed with 1,000 euros, gives the excellent theses special recognition and emphasize the importance of topics in science and practice.
The relevance for the future of landscape architecture
The event impressively showed how young talents develop innovative approaches and solutions for the challenges in landscape architecture. This is not only important for academic training, but also has an impact on the practical implementation of projects that can change the urban and rural environment sustainably. The combination of research and application is increasingly regarded as the key to success in the industry.
cultural exchange at a barbecue evening
At the end of the official event, the participants met in a small drink, followed by a sociable barbecue evening in the Monrepos Park. This not only offered space for personal conversations, but also strengthened the sense of community among the students and experts in the landscape architecture. Such social occasions contribute to networking and exchanging ideas within the industry, which promotes both personal and professional development.
Overall, the Monrepos epilog 2024 was an inspiring meeting that underlined the importance of the landscape architecture for a sustainable future and praised the services of the students.
