New measures to regulate cannabis cultivation in Rhineland-Palatinate

social effects of the approval of cannabis clubs

Since July 1, clubs who are interested in growing cannabis have had the opportunity to apply for approvals. So far, however, only four clubs have applied. What are the reasons for this hesitant development?

The challenges in the application

The requirements for an official application are high: associations must provide information about the number of members, the location of the property and the expected area. You also have to specify exactly how much cannabis should be grown and handed over each year. A prevention officer and a health and youth protection concept are also required.

The new law on cannabis partialization

A partialization of cannabis in Germany has been in force since April 1. Adults are now allowed to consume cannabis in limited quantities and grow for their own use at home.

From July 1, so-called cannabis clubs also have the opportunity to apply for permits to grow cannabis for their own consumption. However, processing of the applications can take up to three months.

The decision to approve cannabis clubs raises many questions. What effects will this have on society? How can youth protection be guaranteed? It remains to be seen how the applications and future developments already submitted in this area will influence the social landscape.
