New priest dedicated: Deacon Lukas Tyczka receives consecration

Mainz ordination in the sign of grace

Last Saturday, July 6th, a moving service took place in the Mainz Cathedral, in which Deacon Lukas Tyczka was consecrated by Bishop Peter Kohlgraf. The celebration was broadcast live on the channels of the diocese of Mainz and was under the lead word "My grace is enough for you; because the strength is completed in the weakness."

The bishop emphasized the importance of God's grace in his sermon and explained that the calling to the priestly service is not based on personal merits, but out of pure grace. Priests and believers should not instruct, but reveal their life of faith through an authentic certificate.

The consecration ceremony included the bishop's hand laying, which symbolically represented the program of the Holy Spirit. Lukas Tyczka received his measuring robe and was equipped with bread and wine. As a sign of admission to the priestly service, a symbolic hug was carried out by the bishop.

The new priests are usually used as a chaplains in communities to support local pastors. They serve the community in sacramental tasks, in the proclamation of the gospel and in pastoral care of the believers.

The ordination is a solemn event that emphasizes the importance of the grace of God in the church service. It symbolizes the appeal of the believers to the testimony of faith and to preach the cheerful message.

The first Holy Mass (Primiz) of the newly consecrated priest is celebrated on Sunday, July 7th, in the St. Bonifatius church in Gießen. This day marks the beginning of its priestly service and is celebrated by the community.
