These flat rates, which should normally cover the cost of treatments, are not enough to cover the actual expenses.In order to maintain liquidity, Unimedizin has accepted operating agent loans of over half a billion euros. The state budget controls because the country is liable for the repayment of these loans. The current credit authorization for unimedic medicine is 750 million euros and does not leave any scope for further debts.

The chairman of the supervisory board and Minister of Health Clemens Hoch has asked the board of the Unimedicine to develop a concept for reducing losses to zero within the next five years by the end of the year.
