Vandalism in Mainz: Rainbow zebra crossing smeared with color!

In Mainz, a rainbow zebra crossing, which was inaugurated as a sign of diversity and tolerance, recently smeared with color. This zebra crossing, which was only presented in August by Mayor Nino Haase and traffic director Janina Steinkrüger, is suspected of being a goal for vandalism. The police are now investigating property damage, and the possibility of a queer -anti -queer motif is checked. Haase announced that it would submit an advertisement against unknown people. The city now has to decide whether the strip has to be cleaned or completely re -painted.

Already at the inauguration, Mayor Haase had indicated that possible vandalism had to be expected. The rainbow zebra crossing, with costs of around 4,000 euros, is part of the Rainbow Cities network, which is committed to the rights of LGBTQIA+people worldwide. The city of Mainz is behind this long -term action, which is supposed to set an example of openness and tolerance. Details on the investigation and the next procedure are not yet known.
