On Saturday and Trier, celebrations for Christopher Street Day (CSD) took place, which sharpened the awareness of the right -wing people and demanded equality. A total of around 3,000 and around 700 people in Mainz took part in the demonstrations. Despite rainy weather, the participants delighted with colorful umbrellas and creative signs.

The meaning of Christopher Street Day

The Christopher Street Day looks back on a long history that began in June 1969 with the uprisings in the Christopher Street in New York. The LGBT+movement worldwide shaped these events that were triggered by a police raid in the "Stonewall Inn" queer bar. The CSD stands not only for the pride of the queer community, but also for the incessant fight against discrimination and prejudices.

Under the motto "Summer Small", the demonstrators in Mainz and Trier wore numerous messages of love and respect. In the signs, important slogans such as "Respect our existence or expect our resistance" and "Hass are no opinion".
