Celebration of the diversity: "Monnem Pride" in Mannheim
Last Saturday the CSD, also known as the "Monnem Pride", took place in Mannheim. But this event is much more than just a colorful festival. It is about visibility and equality of the queer community, which is united in Mannheim's diversity.
The Christopher Street Day (CSD) is a demonstration that takes place annually in Mannheim and is committed to the rights and acceptance of LGBTQ+. Under the motto "Together we are strong", the participants moved through the streets of the city to draw attention to the continuing battles for equality.
The colorful parade started at the old Messsplatz and ended on Friedrichsplatz. There, thousands of people gathered to celebrate the diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community together. Music, dance and political messages shaped the program of the day.
It was impressive to see how many people stand up for an open and tolerant Mannheim. The diversity of the city was reflected in the participants of the CSD, who together set a sign of acceptance.
The "Monnem Pride" is not only a celebration, but also an important memory of the fact that the LGBTQ+ community still has to fight for its rights. It is an event that gives courage and shows that cohesion and solidarity are stronger than discrimination and exclusion.
