Dramatic rescue: 13-year-old from the SUP in the Baltic Sea!

This day, September 30, 2024, a 13-year-old water sports enthusiast from Thuringia was dramatically saved from the Baltic Sea. Around 12.30 p.m. the girl had been abandoned in the open sea at the stand-up paddling in front of Wustrow (Fischland). Despite her father's desperate attempts to swim afterwards, he had to give up due to the cold water temperatures.

An emergency call from the desperate family immediately alerted the fire brigades Wustrow and Ahrenshoop. The firefighters set off with an emergency boat to recover the young athlete from the shockingly cold water of about 16 degrees. Fortunately, the rescuers managed to secure the girl in good time before it was too late. She was brought to a nearby hospital with the suspicion of slight hypothermia, where it is now being treated. The Water Protection Police Inspection Stralsund and the Ribnitz-Damgarten police started the investigation on site.
