FDP warns of anti-Semitism in pro-Palestinian demo in Schwerin
The FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania urges urgently against anti-Semitism in the upcoming pro-Palestinian demonstration in Schwerin on Friday evening, October 25th. The parliamentary group leader René Domke emphasizes that fundamental rights such as freedom of assembly may not be misused for anti -Semitic agitation. The city will strictly control the assembly and enforce clear rules: anti -Semitic statements and showing anti -constitutional symbols are strictly prohibited.
The demo is to take place under the motto "A year of genocide. 75 years of oppression" and addresses the attacks of Israel in the Gaza Strip after the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th. According to the organizers, up to 300 demonstrators should take part, and it is emphasized that the conflict goes far beyond the recent events. The applicant Surik Jangoyan condemned the terror of Hamas, but expressly distanced himself from a blanket stigmatization of the Jewish people. The security forces are encouraged to proceed against any form of agitation, since Jewish communities report a growing fear of hostility. Additional information is to be found here .
