Safe on the net: Police explain about dangers on the Safer Internet Day

On Tuesday, February 11th, the Mönchengladbach police will offer an information stand in the Minto shopping center at level 3 at New York as part of the Safer Internet Day. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., experts are ready to talk to children, young people and parents about the dangers on the Internet and to point out a safe, responsibly handling of digital media. Under the motto "No likes for lies", the focus is on the threats from disinformation and hate content.

In addition to the information on fake news, topics such as cyberbullying, cyber grooming, sexting and sex management are also treated. The police give parents five valuable tips to support their children in the safe use of digital media: establish rules together, regularly have conversations about media content, remain informed, seek help from other parents or teachers and, if a criminal offense, contact the police immediately. This initiative is intended to help families to better master the challenges of the digital world.
