FC Memmingen is subject to Kottern in the first Allgäu duel for decades
The ninth matchday of the Bayernliga brought an unexpected turn for FC Memmingen. In a heated duel against TSV Kottern, the team had to take its first defeat of the season, and that in front of 1720 fans who supported its colors in the stadium. In the end it was 1-2 for the hosts, who kept the upper hand with a strong performance, especially in the first half.
TSV coach Martin Dausch praised the Kemptener toilet for their gallery style of play and said: "We played a very, very good first half and pulled the sting." Dausch had specially interrupted his family vacation on Lake Garda to guide this important game. It was played in summer temperatures that tended against 30 degrees Celsius, but the warmth could not stop the players before it came to the first heated scenes after a cautious start.

Another remarkable aspect was the high proportion of own talents in the game. From FC Memmingen, all of the players were all in the starting line -up that came from their own youth. "Our path is not just a lip service," noted coach Matthias Günes. Also at TSV Kottern, almost all players were in the starting formation of former Memmingen youth players. In a derby that lived from the support of domestic fans, both teams showed that they want to rely on a strong training of their talents and thus want to shape the future. The development of young players is of central importance in these competitions and both clubs seem to be on the right track.
