Schwaben Literature Prize: Achim Jäger wins with touching narrative

At the ceremonial award of the Literature Prize of the Schwaben district on Friday in the Kreuzherrnsaal in Memmingen, the main prize of 2,500 euros went to Achim Jäger for his captivating narrative "A dog barked somewhere". History illuminates subtle communication between young people and their fathers and impressively shows how to deal with each other "at eye level". The 17-year-old Lilly Haller, who lives with a severe physical disability and cannot speak, received a recognition prize for her extraordinary literary achievement, which she provided with with the support of her mother. At the age of 16, she published the book "From the heart, for the soul", in which she wrote down her stories to tell herself and her perspective. A total of four outstanding prose texts from 139 submissions were selected by a twelve -member jury, which praised the diversity and profound examination of this year's topic "at eye level".
