New forest concept inspires citizens in Memmingen
A new concept for promoting consciousness for the forest in Memmingen is very enthusiastic about the population. The first Memmingen forest day attracted young and old to the city pond forest with a diverse offer. Over 30 stations of clubs, companies and organizations informed visitors about topics related to the forest. Playful activities, handicrafts and fascinating demonstrations ensured a varied event.
The event, organized by the Aelf Krumbach-Mindelheim and the municipal forest administration, offered a wide range of attractions such as the forest kindergarten, trees, nature conservation associations, a back horse, chainsaw demonstrations and vehicle shows. The support of Mayor Jan Rothenbacher emphasizes the importance of the topic: "The forest plays a decisive role in our local recreation, raw material acquisition and climate protection. The forest day offers the opportunity to deal with these important topics and learn new things."
In addition to the informative aspects, the culinary side was not neglected. Local specialties such as rehwear and wild boar bourgeoned the offer. Stefan Honold, head of the forestry, was enthusiastic about the great response with around 10,000 visitors: "It is encouraging how well the forest day was accepted. We plan to repeat and expand the event in the coming years."
