On July 4, 2024, the Memmingen police inspection was faced with five cases of attempted call center fraud. This time, the fraudulent calls to seniors aged 66, 85, 86 and 89, which were informed by supposed police officers about fatal traffic accidents that were allegedly caused by their relatives. The victims were then asked to hand over money or jewelry to secure the release of their supposedly arrested relatives. Fortunately, the victims recognized the fraud stitch in good time and rose to become a victim of financial damage. Another case concerned a 68-year-old woman who was informed of an alleged lottery win. Personal data was requested for the payment of the profit and 1,280 euros were requested.
