90 years BSV KME: Discover the diversity of aids for visually impaired people!
Mettmann, Deutschland - The blind and visually impaired association Mettmann (BSV KME) celebrated its 90th anniversary with an impressive exhibition in the Mettmann City Library. As part of the nationwide “week of seeing”, numerous aids for visually impaired and blind people were presented. Visitors had the opportunity to find out more about support options and get in touch with each other. The event attracted numerous interested parties and also offered interactive experiences with feelings that make it possible to recognize everyday objects.
Tamara Ströter, one of the chairpersons of BSV KME, shared her personal experiences with the hereditary disease retinitis pigmentosa and addressed the need for more attention in everyday life, especially in road traffic. It appeals to the people to accept help more active and to respond to the needs of people with visual impairments, for example by offering help in the form of accompaniment. In addition, the exhibition presented the role of modern technologies, including the innovative "Voxivision" cell phone, which can read and translate texts - significant progress in everyday life for those affected.
