ADFC criticized: Mönchengladbach not represented at the Rader experience day in Lower Rhine
ADFC complains about the lack of participation of the city of Mönchengladbach on the Rader experience day Niederrhein
An important reason for criticism from the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) on the city of Mönchengladbach was the first rader experience day in Lower Rhine, which took place last Sunday. Despite the positive response of more than 34,000 people in the region, Mönchengladbach was not involved in the event.
The Rader experience day Niederrhein replaced the previous “Lower Rhine cycling day” and offered 60 municipalities in the border area. Although the event has some innovations, such as a stronger digital orientation, the basic idea remains.
The ADFC described the absence of Mönchengladbach as unacceptable at this event. The city should not close bike tourism, especially in view of the potential, to benefit from this industry.
According to the marketing company of the city of Mönchengladbach, participation in comparable events was declining, which is why more recently resources were invested in other urban events. Nevertheless, the ADFC expects the city to be committed to the city in the field of bicycle tourism in order to increase the attractiveness for visitors and residents alike.
It remains to be seen whether the criticism of the ADFC will persuade the city of Mönchengladbach to take part in the Rader experience day in the future and thus strengthen the importance of bicycle tourism for the region.
