Scandal in Dordives: 71-year-old sentenced to prison for non-declared marriage
"The unexpected courage of a 71-year-old senior citizen who followed her calling"
A remarkable case became known in a recently held appeal hearing. A 71-year-old woman who operates an unregistered nursing home in Dordives (Loiret) was sentenced to a surprisingly strict punishment. The verdict on Tuesday, July 2, was two years in prison, one of which was suspended.
The senior was spoken guilty, offered nursing home services for years, secretly worked as a nurse and cared for older people without official permission. In addition to the prison sentence, she was prohibited from continuing to work with older people. The activity as a nurse is now permanently denied.
The remarkable aspect of this case lies in the senior claim that she acted from “calling”. From 2012 to 2022, she ran a facility in a former restaurant over a period of ten years, which she presented to the residents as a "shared apartment for seniors". Despite multiple requests for registration by the responsible authorities, the work of the facility was only discontinued in October 2022 after it was asked to close in 2019.
The most impressive is perhaps the courage of this woman who seemed to follow her call despite great challenges. While it insisted that she had acted out of a deep inner drive, her 53-year-old daughter, who was accused of accused, was sentenced to six months of probation, even though she always assured her innocence.
