SPD politician calls for abolition of the obligation to consult

The SPD member of the Bundestag Dunja Kreiser supports the demand from Pro Familia to abolish the legally prescribed pregnancy conflict advice before an abortion. According to a current press release, those responsible for Pro Familia emphasize that many women are already well informed and are safe in their decision when they come to advice. In the Wolfenbüttel and Salzgitter region, around 100 to 120 women have to take up this compulsory advice annually, which is an additional burden for many. Kreiser sees the legal regulation as a restriction of the self -determination of women and demands a change to decriminalize the topic.

In addition, the SPD plans to improve the medical care of affected women and to abolish § 218 in the Criminal Code, which regarded abortions as an injustice. Another proposal is to punish sidewalk nuisance in order to ensure pregnant women the undisturbed access to advice centers. Creeper emphasizes that it is unacceptable that women who are already in a crisis situation are also bothered. The amount of the fines could be up to 5,000 euros. The legal framework for abortions in Germany currently stipulates that drug interventions up to the 9th and outpatient are permitted up to the 12th week of pregnancy.
