Glatzel shines: HSV scorer returns sharply after injury
The Hamburger SV showed an impressive performance last weekend after defeating Prussia Münster 4: 1. Robert Glatzel played an outstanding role here, who scored two important goals in the first half. This performance has not only moved the team, but also his trainer Steffen Baumgart to comment on the challenges of his decisions in a personal confession.
Baumgart admitted after the game that the decision to call Glatzel was not easy for him. "Assume that the coach did not make it easy to make this decision," said Baumgart. Throughout the week, he had thought intensively on how to design the list for the important game. Until shortly before the game, he was unsure and had considered putting newcomer Davie Selke in the storm center instead of Glatzel. This consideration came due to Glatzel's fragile fitness after he had missed almost the entire preparation because of a tendon irritation.
The decision for glatel
In the second half, Selke came into play for Glatzel, but his achievements gave Baumgart freedom to experiment with various constellations. "I think it can do us well if there is another striker," said Glatzel. In the past he was often the only primary attacker in the squad, but with the new additions and the larger options, the situation has improved considerably.
The new route that Baumgart has taken is already showing success. Thanks to the interventions of sports director Stefan Kuntz and sports director Claus Costa, who provided seven new players, the competition within the team has lived up to a new level. "We now have a super quality, even in width. Nobody can rest," said Glatzel, which underlines the new dynamics within the team.
The upcoming caps also offer Glatzel the opportunity to continue working on his fitness. While the HSV fans hope for further strong performances, the team remains focused and determined to continue their positive development. The majority of the players now know that every assignment counts and that a drop in performance is no longer an option.
