NRW student academy in Münster: Focus on math and computer science talents
Münster. The pupils of the upper grades from North Rhine-Westphalia are allowed to breathe a sigh of relief: The 23rd student academy of mathematics and computer science (SMIMs) is open today, on September 2, its gates in the youth hostel on Aasee. Instead of sitting in regular lessons, around 100 pupils are devoted exactly to those subjects who are passionate about: mathematics and computer science.
At the beginning of the academy, Christian Schrand, the senior government school director, and Christian Opitz from the Smims team welcomed the participants on Monday morning. "The student academy is a place where like -minded meetings that have a special talent for mathematics and computer science," said Schrand. These drops of blood of creativity and knowledge aim to beat bridges between school and science. "It will be an exciting exchange," he promised with a view to the upcoming days.
intensive project work
After the short greeting, the participants quickly came together in their project groups and plunged into the tasks with zeal. In these five days, you will be challenged to solve challenging problems from the areas of mathematics and computer science. With 15 different project groups, the pupils are given the opportunity to develop individual and often computer -aided solutions that go far beyond what they have learned in regular lessons.
The topics and difficulties are carefully selected and offer an ideal platform to practically use and deepen knowledge. In addition, the academy enables participants to develop perspectives for their future study and career wishes in the field of mathematics and computer science. This is particularly important because the fascinating possibilities in these branches of science grow constantly.
The academy not only offers a break from everyday school life, but also an opportunity to gain profound knowledge and to exchange ideas with other highly motivated students.
The event is organized by the Münster district government on behalf of the School Ministry of North Rhine -Westphalia and is all about promoting young talents, which will be an important part of society and the scientific community in the future. The Smims Academy is a clear sign of how important support and commitment to the MINT subjects are considered.
In the coming days, the participants will be exciting to see which innovative solutions they will develop and which contacts they can build. It remains to be seen which ideas and concepts will emerge from this special week - for the young people who want to use the opportunities of the student academy, the time is not only a learning time, but also a time of inspiration and curiosity.
