Summer journey of discovery: Tiger offspring makes the first enclosure adventure!
Münster - Summer sunshine and the happy game of small tigers: In the all -weather zoo Münster, the animal lovers celebrate an important moment in the life of the new tiger family. On Tuesday, the four sweet tiger puppies took their first excursion into the outer enclosure to explore the water and the surrounding area while the temperatures rise to 31 degrees.
an exciting day for the tiger family
The day started for the tiger family with an extensive breakfast. Mother Raya, who watches like a caring mom over her little ones, has discovered outdoor life with her four offspring, the three sons and a daughter. "A hangover already weighs ten kilos, while the siblings are 8.8 kilos. The little ones mainly eat breast milk, but they also nibble on their own," explains zookeeper Annika Kersten.
Fortunately, according to tragic losses
The happy event in the zoo takes place after an emotional year for Raya and her partner Fedor. Previously, the animal couple fell into an inconsolable stroke of fate in January: the surprise birth of two small tiger babies ended tragically when both died after two days. After this difficult time, the joy was all the greater when Raya gave birth to four healthy puppies in May.
an important contribution to species protection
The birth of these tiger puppies is of considerable importance for species protection. Siberian tigers are among the most threatening predators of the earth. With an estimated inventory of under 800 animals, they are very endangered, mainly through habitat loss and illegal hunting. The all -weather zoo Münster actively participates in the rearing and preservation of this impressive animal species.
unique namesake to participate
The little ones have no names yet, but interested parties can sponsor auction. From 1500 euros you have the chance to acquire your name sponsorship and to get to the zoo for a special patent day. The proceeds of the auction are used to improve living conditions for the tigers, including new climbing opportunities and employment stimuli.
A look into the future
Family cohesion has top priority for the tigers so far. But future -oriented plans are pending: in one to two years the tiger puppies have to move out to make room for a new generation. Zoo boss Dr. Simone Schehka emphasizes that the decision on the new place of residence of the Tiger will later be made by a European species protection coordinator.
For all Zoo visitors in Münster, there is now the opportunity to observe the tiger descendants during their first explorations. This is not only a pleasure for the senses, but also an important blow to the extinction of species that threatens the Siberian tigers.
