Technical masterpiece for loading
The 350 ton submarine was carefully prepared beforehand to make the hourly maneuvering smoothly. By pumping up the submarine, the low loader could easily drive under the submarine and load it safely. A thrust association was positioned to enable the loading process.

U17 has been serving the Navy since 1973 until it was retired in 2010. The entire loading and transport project will cost the Sinsheim Speyer Technikmuseen about two million euros, which are mainly financed by donations. From summer 2025 the submarine will be presented to the public in the Sinsheim Technology Museum.
