Ulm/Neu-Ulm relies on the future: 46 new electric buses by 2027!
Ulm, Deutschland - The Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm (SWU) have decided to purchase a total of 46 new electric buses by 2027. With this measure, more than half of the city buses are operated emission -free - an important step towards environmentally friendly traffic. The Supervisory Board approved the investment of around 34.6 million euros to replace diesel vehicles and provide additional buses. This is intended to introduce new lines and improved clocks in local transport from 2027.
The SWU expects the necessary charging infrastructure to be expanded until the new buses were fully implemented, which could incur additional costs of around ten million euros. Managing Director Ralf Gummersbach emphasized the importance of this decision for CO₂ reduction and improving the quality of life in the region. The new electric buses will not only be emission -free, but also much quieter, which will bring a noticeable relief for the citizens.
