Change at the top: Ulm's new police chief takes up
Ulm, Deutschland - Baden-Württemberg Interior Minister Thomas Strobl held a moving ceremony in Ulm to say goodbye to the outgoing police chief Bernhard Weber and appoint his successor Josef Veser. Around 300 guests, including high -ranking representatives of the police and politics, were present to attend this symbolic moment. In his eulogy, Strobl Webers emphasized exemplary way of working and the great popularity of the 65-year-old among his colleagues.
Josef Veser, who has been a police officer since 1985, brings extensive experience into his new position as chief police. He was described as someone who seems to be at the same time in several places, since he often shows himself actively in missions. The chairman of the staff council praised the decision for Veser as correct and wished him that he also remains the human and accessible supervisor in his new role, whom he was always. Bernhard Weber looked back on his long career in his farewell speech and remembered formative missions, including the tragic aircraft accident of Überlingen in 2002, in which 71 people died.
