Neubrandenburg is fighting for diversity: demo for queer visibility!
Neubrandenburg, Deutschland - The association Queernb e. V. is calling for a demonstration on Thursday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m. under the motto "Neubrandenburg for Queere Visibility". The train begins in front of the town hall and leads through the Katharinenviertel, over the market square to the train station, where several intermediate ranges with speeches are planned. Accompanying the demo, the association calls for rainbow flags to show windows and balconies in order to set a sign of diversity and acceptance.
The campaign follows a controversial decision of the city council to no longer raise rainbow flags at the train station - a step that, from the point of view of the club representatives Nils Berghof and Marcel Spittel, endangers the visibility of queer. Berghof criticized the attempt to suppress symbolic signs and warned of a step backwards into discriminatory times. Spittel emphasized the need for social solidarity, while the general public demonstrated at the train station for a colorful Neubrandenburg that celebrates diversity.
