Giant sunflowers in Neubrandenburg: a competition of garden friends
Giant sunflowers in Neubrandenburg: a competition of garden friends
The sunflowers in and around Neubrandenburg have done a great job again this year. The impressively high plants overwhelm not only their garden owners, but also the neighbors and many passers -by. With heights that give most people the water, these sunflowers come in an incomparable shine, and the largest of them sets new standards.
The current record holder measures a proud 4.46 meters. This extraordinary flower grows in the garden of the children of Gunna Palme in Altthreptow. Thanks to practiced hands and optimal growth conditions, the sunflowers there seem to thrive particularly well there. In the background you can already see suitable rank aids that indicate careful care.
Other impressive heights
But there are also big surprises in the gardens of the neighbors. Achim Grunow can be proud of 3.20 meters with its highest sunflower. His garden in the Töpferberg allotment garden in Stargard Castle is practically a sea of sunflowers that all grow around the bet.
His neighbors can even put one on it: their sunflower reaches a height of 3.50 meters and thus impresses even more than that of Grunow. In Neubrandenburg, the plants in the garden of Heidemarie Jauerneck also impress, the highest sunflower of which measures 3.87 meters. A truly impressive picture that can only be admired.
In another garden in Neubrandenburg, the height of 3.40 meters was measured by a grandson. These flowers not only delight the gardeners, but also their families, who can experience the splendor of the yellow giants. Further remarkable heights of 3.20 meters were reported by various gardeners from the area, so that the competitive mood between the neighbors is audible.
A particularly emotional moment is for Elke Sullies, the sunflower of which has reached a height of 1.80 meters. This plant has a special meaning for the owner because it was a gift from Borussia Dortmund and thus makes the heart of the football fan beat faster.
But despite these impressive successes, the gardeners in Neubrandenburg have to spend patience in the search for the world record. The world record, held by Hans-Peter Schiffer from Kaarst, is an incredible 9.17 meters and was set up in 2015. For this record scale, the local fire brigade even had to move with a turntable ladder to measure the flowering giant plant.
In the gardens of the local gardeners, fortunately, fellows and measuring slats have been sufficient for the actual measurements. So the joy over the impressive heights remains unbroken until further notice, while the sunflowers continue to delight the gardens and the heart of the people in Neubrandenburg.
