On September 8th, a fascinating insight into the history of the region will be offered in Neubrandenburg and the surrounding area. For all those interested in history, the event "Day of the Open Monument" is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself deeply into the past and explore historical sites that are otherwise often closed. This year there are numerous monuments and offers that enable visitors to experience the architectural treasures of the city and their surroundings.

Particular attention is paid to the impressive city walls and gates of Neubrandenburg. At 3 p.m., visitors have the opportunity to visit the four historical goals, take the testimony of the history and architecture of the city. During this time, specialists from the lower monument protection authority will be on site to answer questions and to share exciting details on the history of the buildings.

Cultural offers in different locations

Another highlight takes place in Weitin, where a guided tour to historical places such as the medieval tower hill, also known as Mörderberg, and the Krappmühle is offered. This exclusive guided tour starts at 1 p.m. and is led by ground monument maintenance Christine Henning. Participation is free of charge, but visitors should note that access is not barrier -free. The meeting point for the tour is the Malliner Bachtal car park.

In the village church of Liepen, the day is enriched by a special musical performance. At 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. the originally preserved Grüneberg organ will be heard, played by Michael Obst, who will then also offer guided tours through the church. The guests can relax with coffee and cake and enjoy the atmosphere.

in Friedland opens up a variety of opportunities for discovery. The ascent to the fishing tower, which is possible from 12 noon to 5 p.m., promises a unique view of the city. The Marienkirche is also looked after by volunteers during these hours, which willingly provide information about the eventful history of the church. A special highlight will be a tour of the pastor at 3 p.m., which gives deeper insights into church history.

A lively museum courtyard in the Friedländer Museum also opens its gates from 12 noon to 5 p.m., supplemented by the award ceremony of the city cycling, which invites you to participate. In addition, the Brohmer Church in cooperation with the Brohm Culture and Home Association will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The museum village in Schwichtenberg can be visited from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., which makes the day of the open monument a perfect occasion to learn more about regional culture and history.
