TC Fiko Rostock in front of a decisive relay marathon in Neubrandenburg

The relay marathon of the SV Turbine Neubrandenburg is facing an exciting turn. Over the past five years, the runners of the TC Fiko Rostock have dominated the event and won the victory in an impressive manner. But this year this could be different, since the Rostockers are not yet registered for the event on Saturday, which starts at 10 a.m. at the Reitbahensee. Jörg Knospe, the head of Turbine, expressed hope that Fiko will send a team into the race.

Last year the Rostockers underpinned their strength by finishing the Turbine team with a time of 2: 38.27 hours more than seven minutes. This series makes them the natural favorites of the event when it comes to the competition among men. The women's team from SV Turbine, on the other hand, was able to triumph last year. Interestingly, the HSV Neubrandenburg will not start this year, which Knosppe described as disappointing: "This is a bit weak. Even if the HSV is only a small club, one could have put together a mixing season."

A total of 34 relay teams have announced their participation for the 28th edition of the relay marathon. The event comprises seven categories, including men's, women, oldies, mixed and youth teams as well as half marathon relay. The individual sections of the route at the Reitbahnensee vary between 5.6 and 11.3 kilometers, so that the athletes divide the entire distance of 42.195 kilometers in five. This division enables the participants to manage the different sections according to their individual strengths and preferences.

The relay marathon is one of the events where points can be collected for the team and team ranking. The SC Laage currently sets the tone in both ratings and could try to assert its position in the course of the marathon. The event not only promises exciting races, but also the opportunity for all participating athletes to achieve their personal best and celebrate success together. The atmosphere is enriched by the large number of teams and the different age groups that face the challenge.
