150 years of fire brigade: a festival of solidarity and volunteer!

The ASPang market volunteer fire brigade celebrated an impressive 150th anniversary with a ceremony that took place last weekend and attracted numerous guests of honor such as Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. The event was accompanied musically by a delegation from the Aspang market chapel, while pupils at the Semmering Tourism School provided the guests. In her speech, Mikl-Leitner emphasized the indispensable role of the fire brigade in civil protection, especially in view of the recent flood disasters, and praised the solidarity of the volunteers.

As part of the celebrations, long -standing members of the fire brigade were also honored. Horst Polzer received awards for 40 years, Reinhard Bleyer and Karl Polzer for 50 years of voluntary work. In addition, several merit medals were awarded in bronze and silver in order to honor the commitment of the firefighters. The ASPanger fire brigade commander Josef Huber looked back on the successes of the past 150 years, with the modern fire station of 2008 being highlighted as one of the largest milestones.
