Construction site in Zeppenfeld: snack and butcher's shop are fighting for customers
Zeppenfeld. The construction of the Hellerbrücke has drastic consequences for local traders who are affected by the traffic restrictions. Jens Schreiber's snack bar suffered particularly from the current situation. Due to the construction site, former regular customers can no longer avoid, which led to a decline in sales of almost a third. "Communication with the municipality is catastrophic. One is left in the unclear," says Schreiber his displeasure with information policy.
High sales losses in the restaurant
Due to the closures, through traffic towards Burbach has shifted, which makes it difficult for customers to reach the snack. The numerous diversions about Wilden and Gilsbach make it complicated to use the lunchtime efficiently. "I usually have rain in the lunchtime, but the construction site does not allow that," explains Schreiber.
Alternative signs set up
In order to obtain their visibility, writers and butchers Stefan Scholl have set up several signs on their own who emphasize the accessibility of their companies. This measure shows how much the local entrepreneurs are trying to continue to attract customers despite the challenges. "We had to become active ourselves because otherwise we would continue to buckle," complains Schreiber.
Communication with the administration remains from
The criticism of the administration continues to take shape. According to Schreiber and Scholl, dissatisfaction with the lack of information provision on the part of the municipality is increasing. Information about new plans or changes such as the renewal of the water pipes, which are also due, do not come in time, which significantly influences the planning and operation of the business. "I could have planned my company holidays better if I knew what the construction site is still bringing with it," says Schreiber.
Future of the trade under pressure
The situation not only has financial effects, but also influences the mood in Zeppenfeld. People feel left behind by the progress of the construction work and are annoyed that the municipal administration does not offer the necessary support. When asked how to manage a shop, if there is no information, Schreiber points out: "We are trade taxpayers and should not be ignored."
The resentment about the construction work in Zeppenfeld shows how important transparent communication between citizens, traders and the administration is. The current measures must be carried out carefully in order not to endanger the livelihood basis of local business.
