Big fire in Merchweiler: Former hotel on flames!

In the night of October 5, 2024, Merchweiler, Hauptstraße 112, occurred in an empty building that used to serve as a hotel and restaurant. The police in Neunkirchen discovered smoke on the upper floor around 00:45. The alarmed fire brigade, with over 80 emergency services from several extinguishing districts, was able to control the fire after around an hour. The extinguishing work dragged on until 5:30 a.m. and required a road closure and the evacuation of an adjacent house. Fortunately, there were no injured and neighboring buildings undamaged.

The property damage cannot currently be quantified, and the cause of the fire remains unclear, since investigations can only be continued after the building has been re -relevant.
