Ternitz terrorist: explosive plan for Swift concert?
In connection with a thwarted terrorist attack on a planned concert by Taylor Swift on August 9th in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, a new report by the Federal Criminal Police Office will be known. The 19-year-old suspect from Ternitz is said to have tried to produce explosives with simple chemicals, including hydrogen peroxide-containing solvents. According to the 26-page report, the quantities were low, but sufficient to create an explosive capsule in principle. The defender of the alleged IS supporter, Werner Tomanek, sees his clients relieved by the new results, since the substances are classified as not suitable for a terrorist attack.
In a house search, further dangerous items were found, including electronic ignition devices, a combat knife and a machete. The accused is suspected of having planned a suicide attack on the concert on behalf of the Islamic State, whereby he wanted to put a large number of fans in danger. Investigators also examine whether he had a 17-year accomplice at his side. The case raises questions about security at major events, while the investigation continues.
