A farewell to Resi Weig: a life in dedication and agriculture
Resi Weig from Ottenrieth, who died peacefully at home on July 31 at the age of 81, leaves not only grief with her family, but also with the entire community, which has shaped it for many years. Her funeral took place last Saturday at the Lennesriether Friedhof, after an emotional measuring ceremony in the Jakobus Church.
The funeral fair was held by Pastor Norbert Götz from Waldthurn, with Father Witold from the Felix monastery in Neustadt an der Waldnaab supported him. A special moment of the ceremony was the musical accompaniment by the church choir from Waldthurn, which, under the direction of Georg Schmidbauer, touched those present with moving sounds.
Resi Weig grew up as the fifth of eight children in a family of farmers and experienced many challenges and joys associated with life in the country. Together with her husband, Konrad Weig, she managed the parents' farm and took care of the four children together: Monika, Konrad, Margit and Irmgard. Her way of life was firmly rooted in the traditions of agriculture, which Pastor Götz particularly praised in his speech by pointing out that she brought in the "harvest of her own life".
In addition to her work on the farm, Weig actively involved in various clubs and was a regular participant in the Sunday service. These activities contributed to promoting cohesion within the community. Their commitment to the community and its faith not only shaped their own life, but also the life of the people around them.
In the past few years of life, Resi Weig suffered from declining intellectual skills. Despite these challenges, she was able to stay on the home court thanks to the loving care of her family. During their funeral, many people were present who have shown her the last honor and said goodbye to a woman who left a lasting impression through her life and work.
The death of Resi Weig is not only a loss for her family, but also for the municipality of Ottenrieth, which she actively supported and shaped it. Your life symbolizes the values of community, tradition and commitment, which are so important in rural regions. The many people who knew them will honor their souvenirs.
