Unusual rescue operation: Roofs made of bathtub liberated

Neustadt/Weinstraße (Rhineland-Palatinate)-The police in Neustadt/Weinstraße could protect an exhausted badger in an unusual rescue operation from safe death. A passerby discovered the animal at midnight panting on the berry road and alerted the officials because he assumed that the badger was injured.

The police quickly arrived on site and found that the badger was only exhausted but unharmed. Eyewitnesses reported that the animal had unsuccessfully tried to get back into the forest via the steep embankment.

To help the badger, the officials decided to make an unconventional measure. They organized a children's bathtub in which they placed the tired roofs. Then they carried the animal up the steep embankment and left it released in the adjacent forest. "The roofs immediately disappeared into the undergrowth," reported a police spokesman.

By the quick intervention of the police, the badger could be preserved from further exhaustion and now has the chance to recover in its natural habitat. An unusual but successful rescue operation that shows how important it is to help wild animals in need.
