The trend towards a holistic workout

More and more people are discovering the positive effects of the stand-up paddling. The sport not only trains the deep muscles of the body, but also promotes balance and concentration. On a sunny Friday afternoon, many newbies and experienced paddlers were on site, including Henrik Asmuth and Myriam Macé, who enthusiastically raved about their first SUP experience.

The roots of the stand-up paddling

SUP has a long tradition that goes back to the technology of the fishermen who paddled upright to throw out their networks. These historical aspects make SUP not only a modern sport, but also part of the maritime culture. Robby Naish, who is generally considered a pioneer of the modern SUP, made the technology popular and promoted its spread. "Due to the combination of sportiness and nature closeness, SUP has developed into a real trend," emphasizes Meinecke.

Courses and Community events promote cohesion

The SUP barn on Werdersee not only offers rental options for boards, but also courses and community events. In private courses, Meinecke integrates theoretical elements to convey sound knowledge to the paddlers. "I am happy to see how people get together in our courses, often new friendships arise," says Meinecke. A unique event, in which participants share a joint experience on the water, is always organized by the station manager and is very much in demand.

"The exchange during paddling, the common barbecue after sport and the experiences on the water create a strong feeling of belonging together," says Meinecke. These community aspects testify to a positive development in recreational sports.

Accessibility and fun for all age groups

The SUP barn has offers for all age groups, including special children's boards and teamboards for eight paddlers who invite you to spend time on the water together. The flexible rental conditions and the simple handling of the boards make this sport accessible to many. "Anyone who wants to rent a board only has to make sure that they can swim," explains Meinecke while he highlights the advantages of the sport.

This accessibility has meant that SUP has developed into a popular leisure deflection for many sports enthusiasts, regardless of their level of experience.
